Ohio School-Based Health Alliance Hosts 2024 Annual School-Based Health Care Conference

By: Brittany Daniels, Director of Operations & Communications, Health Impact Ohio

This month, the Ohio School-Based Health Alliance hosted their 2024 Annual School-Based Health Care Conference and brought together school-based health care partners from across the state for a day of connection and learning to kick off National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month.

National School-Based Health Care Awareness Month is a time to celebrate the role of school-based health in filling care gaps and ensuring every child is healthy and ready to learn.

Nearly 200 school-based health care partners joined the Ohio School-Based Health Alliance for this full-day conference and evening networking session. The day was filled with lots of learning, connections, and wonderful examples of the tremendous impacts school-based health care has on students, families, and communities across Ohio. Participants started the day with an opening plenary on Advancing school-based health care and cross-system partnerships with Dr. Olga Acosta Price, followed by a panel on Strengthening the Foundation for Ohio's Children through School-Based Health, and ending the morning with a panel on Working Together: Building School-Based Health Care and School District Partnerships. Workshop topics in the afternoon included three tracks with sessions focused on Equity and social determinants of health, Comprehensive, integrated care, and Innovation, data, and technology-based solutions. The Ohio Alliance was able to provide all health professionals who participated in the Conference with CME/CE credits, including dentists, nurses, pharmacists, physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychologists, registered dietitians, and social workers.

Health Impact Ohio is the fiscal sponsor for the Ohio School-Based Health Alliance, and we are proud to have been able to assist the team with the execution of the 2024 Annual Conference. The conference was made possible through the support and partnership of the Ohio Department of Health and sponsors, including CareSource, Humana, SchoolCare, OhioRISE, Health Impact Ohio, AmeriHealth Caritas, Molina Healthcare, Ohio Association of Food Banks, WellCheck, Ohio Alliance for Population Health, who are committed to ensuring Ohio’s children are healthy and ready to learn.
